During WWII we all (or nearly all) backed the war, from kids to geezers…


What was life like for kids in Southern California from 1941 to 1945? As I noted before, Los Angeles was a great place for a kid to grow up in the 40s and 50s…

The whole notion of living in the big city as it was getting on a war footing was new. For me it these were current events. My reference was a whole new world, nothing like Waterville, Minnesota or Buffalo, New York, and that new world was going to war. In the last blog we looked at what the nation did with rationing and building war machines and supplies.

I wasn’t aware of much at 7, but one thing I clearly remember from those days was the attack on Pearl Harbor. That focused the entire nation.
