We finally finished our transition from a slowly recovering Midwest to the dynamics of Southern California. We got settled and our new life began…

Los Angeles was a great place for a kid to grow up in the 40s and 50s…

Dad worked at a fine job building fighter planes and bombers as a war was coming, and then came. It was a foreboding time for those who knew history. That was the older generation who lived through the Roaring 20s, WWII, and the Great Depression.

The adjustment to living in a big city that is getting on a war footing was new. To me it was simply current events in a normal life. After all, my only reference was my first few years in Waterville.
